Fire Door Awareness

What to expect

A half-day CPD session covering the 6 key check points for fire door compliance, updated for the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Since 23 January 2023, Responsible Persons in buildings with storeys over 11m in height must carry out quarterly checks of all fire doors in communal areas (including door closers), and annual checks of flat entrance doors where reasonably practicable. Getting this wrong isn't just a compliance risk — a fire door that doesn't close properly, or has damaged intumescent seals, can be the difference between a contained fire and one that spreads. Training your own people what to look for means defects get caught between formal inspections, not just once a quarter.

  • The 6 key check points: gaps, seals, hinges, glazing, signage and self-closing function
  • What changed under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, and who it applies to
  • Quarterly vs annual check requirements depending on building type and door location
  • Correct specification and installation checks during fit-out or refurbishment work
  • Elevated compliance expectations for care and healthcare premises
  • Recording and reporting fire door defects so nothing gets missed between formal inspections
